MELNUNNIE Bila Galari Ngurambang

This body of work represents the Bila Galari (Lachlan River) as it flows through Ngurambang (Country). This particular river feed the life to all surrounding beings and ecosystems, through creeks, billabongs, swamps and also the wildlife it attracts. 

The River shows as three concentric lines, which to us Wiradjuri people represents the three rivers of Country. Those being the Wambuul (Macquarie), Galari (Lachlan) and the Marrambidya (Murrumbidgee).

The energy and force of life is shown by a single line connecting numerous meeting places (Three concentric circles on Country) all to each other, but also to the river itself via the waterholes (Three concentric circles on the River).

The thinner concentric lines represent the radiating energy that connects everything on Country to each other, but also to Country itself. The intersecting lines formed are a symbol of the unbroken Bloodlines, and Spiritual, Cultural, Physical connections we have with Country, the River, and everything we stand for as Indigenous people. 

We, Aboriginal people, are not on Country, nor do we own Country, We are Country.
