CARA SHIELDS Scar Pattern Boundaries (Diptych)
CARA SHIELDS - Wiradjuri Artist
75cm x 120cm
Yellow Ochre and acrylic on canvas
Scar Pattern Boundaries is an interpretation of tree carvings of diamond, straight, triangular and wavy lines carved into tree trunks.
These trees were used as boundary markers.
A mirror image diamond shape is sectioned off in straight lines and triangular shapes.
This is to represent boundaries.
Dots and ochre wash/paint are to represent texture of wood where insects and weathering occurs.
Intricate line work is included to present carvings in the tree as well as weathering lines.
Scar Pattern Boundaries is my contemporary view of our carved trees.
