TJULYATA KULYURU
Tjulyata Kulyuru is an emerging artist from Ernabella, Tjulyata comes from a deeply creative and respected family. Her father is the community pastor, and her late mother, a senior artist from the mission days, was known for her skill in hand-spinning natural wool and creating beautifully knitted garments. As a young girl, Tjulyata spent time at the art centre watching her mother create batik, surrounded by the artistic influence of her aunt and sisters, who also painted with Ernabella Arts.
Now a mother of five, julyata lives and works in Ernabella, developing a distinct visual language inspired by jukula (waterholes), which she expresses through both canvas and ceramics.
