GABRIELLA POSSUM NUNGURRAYI Seven Sisters Dreaming

Gabriella Possum Nungurrayi’s Seven Sisters Dreaming depicts one of the most widely shared creation stories among Aboriginal nations, each with unique variations but all tracing the journey of seven ancestral women pursued across the land and sky, their presence still visible today as the Pleiades constellation.

Born in 1967 at Mt Allan in the Northern Territory, Gabriella is an Anmatyerre artist and the eldest daughter of the celebrated Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, a pioneering figure of the Western Desert art movement. Taught to paint by her father, she continues his legacy through dynamic compositions rich in colour, pattern, and storytelling.
