JASMINE COE Father Moon
Father Moon is a deeply personal work by Jasmine Coe that celebrates the beauty of the moon and reflects the artist's profound relationship with her father. Named 'Arana' , one of the Wiradjuri words for moon, Jasmine's connection to the moon is intertwined with both her cultural heritage and her paternal bond. In Wiradjuri culture, the moon holds a masculine presence, a theme Jasmine explores through traditional line work.
For Jasmine, the moon serves as a source of comfort and guidance, especially while being far from home. "The moon holds much significance for me, being based on the other side of the world, the moon provides comfort, a visual connection and guidance," she shares. Through Father Moon, Jasmine evokes this enduring connection, using the moon as a symbol of both personal reflection and cultural grounding.
