JASMINE COE Red Gum

Red Gum honours the enduring presence of red gum trees across Wiradjuri Country and the deep relationships they hold with land, water and community. Their presence continues across time, connecting past and present and carrying the marks of generations within their bark, form and place in the landscape.

Jasmine draws upon traditional Wiradjuri linear expression to reflect the natural markings and textures of the tree, using repeated lines to suggest movement, memory and the histories held within the bark. The work considers the red gum as a living presence within Country, connected to the stories, knowledge and experiences carried across generations.

Through Red Gum, Jasmine reflects on continuity, resilience and belonging. The painting honours the strength and longevity of these trees, while recognising their place within the interconnected relationships between people, water, land and the living world.
